From Hard Hats to a Ribbon Cutting: MRHC Foundation Celebrates Healthy Futures
MOBRIDGE, S.D. — Nearly nine years ago, planning began for what would become one of the largest projects in the history of Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics. This September, the MRHC Foundation celebrated the completion of that journey alongside approximately 80–100 donors, community members, partners and staff at MRH&C’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
For the Foundation, the celebration was also an opportunity to recognize the incredible community support that helped make the project possible through the Healthy Futures Capital Campaign.
As construction progressed, the Foundation looked at how it could support the project and the future of healthcare in our region. With the help of Todd Jordre and Haden Merkel, the Healthy Futures Capital Campaign was developed and brought to life with a goal of raising $1.5 million.

Over the next three years, individuals, families, businesses and organizations responded with tremendous generosity. By the conclusion of the campaign, the Foundation had received 456 gifts totaling $1.755 million, surpassing its original goal.
Along the way, we had opportunities to share the project as it took shape. Some of our earliest donor tours meant putting on reflective vests and hard hats to walk through the construction zone of the new patient wing. At the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, we welcomed many of those same supporters back—this time to walk the finished halls and enjoy a piece of celebratory cake together.
Several areas now carry names recognizing the generosity and legacy of those who helped make Healthy Futures possible, including Dale’s Café, the Dacotah Bank Conference Room, the Dr. Ben & Audrey Henderson Conference Room, and patient rooms recognizing the Anderson Family, Travis & Misti Henderson, and Dr. Bob & Evelyn Marciano.
The Foundation is also grateful for significant support from Kyle and Beth Jensen, Mobridge Economic Development Corporation, Farm Credit Services of America, Northwest Beverage, the Walter and Virginia Hager Foundation, DeLoris Speidel, Cynthia Glader, West River Telecommunications, and Kohlman Bierschbach and Anderson, along with the many others who contributed throughout the campaign.
We also thank Dakota Radio Group and the Mobridge Tribune for their generous in-kind advertising support, helping us share the Healthy Futures story throughout the region.
While we are proud of the $1.755 million raised, Healthy Futures was never about one gift or one donor. Every contribution was part of something much larger—a shared investment in the future of healthcare in our communities.
As we close this chapter, the MRHC Foundation extends its sincere thanks to everyone who donated, volunteered, attended an event, shared our story or supported Healthy Futures along the way.
From walking the construction zone in hard hats to walking the finished halls together, we are grateful to have shared this journey with you.
