A little history...
After a vote in March of 1958 - 188 to 109- the stockholders decided to build the Mobridge Community Hospital on its present site. The current site was apart of the old airport until they moved the airport east of the city. The hospital was built for $550,000 and equipment costs were $90,000. In May 1958 the footings were poured and the dream finally became a reality. In December of that same year, Floyd Krohn was hired as Mobridge Community Hospital's first administrator. The hospital was dedicated on July 12, 1959 in a special ceremony. With a unity of effort from the medical staff of the Lowe Hospital and the old Mobridge Hospital, along with the talents of the first director of nursing, Mrs. V.J. (Olivia) Weyland and her staff, the doors were opened August 17, 1959.
