Fall Jubilee
On a blustery October evening Dr. Robert & Evelyn Marciano along with the Mobridge Regional Healthcare Foundation hosted a Fall Jubilee Dance. The evening began with a homemade BBQ'd beef dinner at 5:30pm with Fiddler Nelson performing at 7pm.
"Fiddler Nelson" is an old time string band that performs hoedowns, waltzes, polkas and quadrilles on fiddles, guitar, banjo, mandolin, concertina and upright bass. The group is named after an itinerant shirt salesman and fiddler who traveled southeastern South Dakota during the 1930s and 1940s, selling clothing and playing fiddle for neighborhood dances. The band plays tunes from the Missouri Valley tradition learned from Dwight Lamb. John Everist plays banjo and concertina in the band, Nathan Glazier plays mandolin and fiddle, Tom Weisbecker is the guitarist, and Bill Peterson and Tom Carlson are fiddlers, along with Al Slaathaug on the upright bass. Concerts, dances or both can be provided by Fiddler Nelson.
